Website and email sharing same domain name (2 servers) - DNS setup

$

I want to change my email addresses from @mail.mydomain.com to @mydomain.com. My website mydomain.com currently runs on IIS on a different IP address and server.

Do you know what I need to setup/change for my dns records? I setup my DNS through my registrar (Enom.com). Do I need to change anything in Zimbra?

thanks

Hello all,

we are using zimbra for a while for our mail accounts and distribution lists.
recently more people want to send mails to distribution lists, they're not allowed to send to. most of them don't understand the error-message.

error message:
distlist_zimbra_error_ul.txt

my question is now: how can i change the error message/ a part of the message?

We are using zimbra Community Edition 8.0.6_GA_5922.FOSS

thank you for your help!

Mail Forwarding

$

I just inherited a Zimbra mail server and have never administered Zimbra in the past. It is at version 6.0.10, which I know is not up to date. My current question is with Mail Forwarding.

My problem is that when I try to have mail forwarding for an account I get an error back to the original mailer with the following error: 550
Sender Authorization check failed - psmtp (in reply to RCPT TO command)

I can email directly from zimbra to the same account that I attempted to do mail forwarding with.

I really have no idea what steps I am missing, it seems pretty straight forward, but it just isn't working.

If it makes a different, the account that I am trying to forward to is a gmail account which seems to be the problem. I have successfully done a mail forward from sender (hotmail) to mail forwarding (yahoo). Is there something I need to do in order for this to work with gmail accounts? Update: It seems to only be when the sender is gmail and the mail forwarder is gmail as well, even if they are different domains, example sender is gmail.com and the mail forwarder is going to another google business domain.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Installing on another drive

I use Windows 7. I have another drive that I install all my applications and user information on. When I can install Zimbra Desktop on the second drive with no problem. When I try to run it on the other hand I get an error that states "Couldn't access Zimbra Desktop server." I don't need a server I just need the version that I can view my emails offline. Any thoughts.

Using hostname for multiple instances

Hello,

I'm sorry if I don't make much sense or if this subject has been covered in the past. I am unable to find the answer after hours of searching so I thought I would ask.

I am wanting to set up a small collaboration service for our local sports teams. I want them to be able to get to the zimbra server by using XXX.domain.org or YYY.domain.org and have them able to use separate instances of of zimbra so that there are separate GAL, Address Books, Calendars, Groups, etc.

Is it even necessary? Can one instance or one domain be used to keep multiple organizations separate on the same server?

Maybe I am not being clear, I will be glad to answer any questions to clarify, just ask.

I know that I can set up multiple domain names in the zimbra admin UI, but I don't think this is what I am looking for.

I am in the process of setting up my DNS records and can use wildcards for the hostname to resolve to the same domain name, but I have not figured out how to make Zimbra work the way I want. Is it even possible?

I plan on using Zimbra 8.0.6 on Ubuntu Server 12.04 LTS

I am hoping to plan this out right so I don't have a bunch of headaches after it is up and running.

Problems after partition move

Hi Folks

Hope someone can help. I've just installed a new Zimbra NE server and, while migrating mailboxes to it from one of our old Sendmail servers, I suddenly realised that the partition for /root was only 70 Gbs and almost full. I had hoped the install would have gone into the large disk area under /home that I'd created for it but obviously I did something I shouldn't have done during the install and this is how we ended up.

I did the following to move the partition:

I shut down the services for Zimbra
I rsynced everything from /opt/zimbra to /home/zimbra
I did a ln -s /home/zimbra /opt/zimbra
Restarted all services

I checked the link to make sure that it's looking at /home/zimbra when changing to /opt/zimbra and it appears to be OK.

When restarting the server, it came up with an Apache error on the httpd.pid file which I deleted and it's not come back with the error.

However, now when stopping the services I get:

antispam Running
antivirus Running
convertd Running
ldap Running
logger Running
mailbox Running
mta Running
opendkim Stopped
opendkim is not running.
snmp Running
spell Stopped
zmapachectl is not running
stats Running
zmconfigd Running

When I try to stop and restart I get this:

Starting ldap...Done.
Starting zmconfigd...Done.
Starting logger...Done.
Starting convertd...Done.
Starting mailbox...Done.
Starting antispam...Done.
Starting antivirus...Done.

Starting mta...Done.

Can anyone help with this? This is a production server which the customer is expecting to be online tomorrow and, although I've moved the mailboxes across and sync'ed them, and the server appears to be OK and allowing connections, this does worry me a great deal. Have I done something I shouldn't have done in the move?

Looking forward to hearing from you.
Chris

Inherited a Zimbra 4.0.1, move to new server and upgrade

Hi,

I inherited a Zimbra server version 4.0.1_GA_324 32 bit on Centos 4. I need to migrate it to a new machine and upgrade to a current version.

As it stands it looks as though I need to migrate first to Centos 5.5 machine, then upgrade the version of Zimbra as far as I can, then install another Centos 6.x and migrate a second time then run the additional upgrades.

Is this correct? is there a more direct way to get to the current version from that far back? Am I doomed to a lost weekend of mail server migration?

Thanks for any help!!!

Upgrading zimbra 6.0.16 to later version

Good evening,

I am still on my baby steps with zimbra's in's & outs.

I need to upgrade a zimbra stand alone server from (Release 6.0.16_GA_2998.UBUNTU8_64 UBUNTU8_64 FOSS edition) to later edition. I read about upgrades on the net with unclear directions. then thought of contacting the gurus.

I am aware that this server have missed several upgrades (OS and zimbra application) already. I can highly appreciate your input in this regards, as I am scared to break a live system.

Thnx, Lungu

Hi people, pls i'm still a bit of a novice here and i have done a lot of self study but but i need serious help. i am having serious issues with installation of zimbra(zcs-7.2.5_GA_2906.RHEL5_64.20130911101145) on rhel5. when installing rhel5, i checked all the options available to make sure anything need for zimbra to install properly is available and saving me the stress of having to install select packages for zimbra to run.
After all the stage of the installation has been succesful and by all the stages i mean zimbra ldap, zimbra logger. zimbra mta, zimbra snmp, zimbra store, zimbra apache, zimbra spell, and i even installed zimbra memcache and zimbra proxy succesfully.
shortly after that it comes up with an error saying:

Can't Run zmcertmgr

Hello,

I cannot run zmcertmgr as the root user. I have a test bed Zimbra Server at home that mimics the production server at work. I successfully installed a commercial SSL Certificate on my test bed at home which I purchased. I followed the same procedure I used on my test bed to install another SSL Certificate that I purchased on our production server and when it comes time to deploy the SSL Certificate using the following command:

root@ubuntu:/opt/zimbra/ssl/zimbra/commercial# ./zmcertmgr deploycrt comm /tmp/server.crt /tmp/ca_bundle.crt

I get this:
-bash: ./zmcertmgr: No such file or directory

I have tried running zmcertmgr from the default directory /opt/zimbra/bin and I get the same message. I can see the zmcertmgr executable in that directory. HELP :-)

Thanks,

Jeff

Installation Problem - DNS

Hello zimbra community

We are a young web-design company and I have the honor to setup our intranet. I've been told to give Zimbra a go. The problem is that I do not have any experience with linux, so please consider this when judging me by my questions.

Atm, I have the following setup to work with.

- A running version of ubuntu server 12.04 64bit
- the installation files of zimbra

When I run the install file, I get the error about fixing my hosts file. All the articles I found include dns splitting, but we have our own dns server running on an internal ip. I made the entries I've found on Split DNS - Zimbra :: Wiki but I still get the same error during installation.

Can please someone give me a hand. I've spent countless hours on this and can't get it to work. I'd really appreciate it.

I have looked through the forum, I haven't found the solution. I will keep looking.

I am using Ubuntu 12.04 Server 64-bit and Zimbra 8.0.6.GA.5922 OSE.

I can send emails to external accounts, (i.e. my hotmail account) but I can't receive (whether from an external email or on the same server. I have looked in zimbra.log and its coming up with this error

Quote:

Incidentally I am setting up this email server to replace the existing one. The live server has the same hostname and MTA as the one I am setting up. I suspect this would be the issue?

When I try to log in through webmail it comes back with 'A network service error has occurred.' I have seen other posts as regards to this but nothing suggested has helped.

Is there any other required info?

Getting - Run as Root

Hi folks

I am doing my very first Zimbra installation on Centos6.5. I am installing Zimbra 8.

I have run the following steps:

Download Zimbra to your server

wget http://files2.zimbra.com/downloads/8...0524120036.tgz

Extract Zimbra

tar xvzf zcs-8.0.4_GA_5737.RHEL6_64.20130524120036.tgz

cd to the extracted directory

cd zcs-8.0.4_GA_5737.RHEL6_64.20130524120036

All of the above has been pretty straight forward.

However when I try to

Run the install script ./install.sh -platform-override

I get 'Run as root' message.

Please can anyone help.

Thanks

Zimbra 7.1 to 7.2.6 Posix problem

$

Hi All,

We upgraded Zimbra from 7.1 to 7.2.6 and now Posix is not working anymore, we are running on Ubuntu 10.04. I know from some earlier Threads on the forum that its never officially supported and that it wont be. Fine by us, however our current install is using Posix groups and if i disable the Posix zimlet i'm not able to create new accounts.

When i try i'll get this error:

Invalid request: CreateAccount invalid schema change: [LDAP: error code 65 - object class 'posixAccount' requires attribute 'uidNumber']
Errorcode: service.INVALID_REQUEST Method: [unknown]
Details:soap:Sender

Is there any working Posix zimlet for Zimbra 7.2.6, already tried the one in the gallery but that one doesn't work either.
Or does anybody have a other solution on this one ?

Kind regards,

Wesley
