Dear All,

I would like to implement zimbra mail server in my office. Currently I have mailbox with my mail service provider. I use to create mailbox for each user in mail pannel given by mailservice provider. In client side I configure as pop3 & use to send and receive the mails.

Now as I am planning Install zimbra Appliance in vmware. I still like to keep my mail service provider .I would like to configure zimbra mail server for internal mail routing as well as all client outgoing and incoming mail should go and come via zimbra mail server .The mail should be pulled from my mail service provider.

Please let me know how to configure the zimbra mail server according to my requirement.

Alex

Zimbra Web Clients and Cross-Site Scripting

Hello Zimbra Experts,
I am deploying a Z. 8.0 installation for about 50 users and want them to move from MS Outlook to a web client user environment.
Has anyone thought about what vunerability Cross-Site scripting has with Zimbra sharing a browser with other internet sites?

One protective approach that crossed my mind was to deploy Firefox with a custom profile that the user lanuches from a shortcut.
I know FF can run under multiple profiles with isolation between them.

any comments on this would be a great help..

thanks.

I am testing my Zimbra upgrade scenario. So far, I am in the stage to have a running 8.0.0 zimbra on a fresh installed Ubuntu 10.4. I upgraded Ubuntu 10.4 to 12.4 which seemed to be fine. As the next step, I planned to run the install script for zimbra 8.0.0 from the ubuntu12 package. The installer aborts with a perl symbol lookup error. The following part is from the output of the zimbra 8 installer:

Hoping someone can provide advice here...

I have a server running RHEL 4 x86_64 with ZCS 7.2.1; I want to move to a new machine running RHEL 6.3 x86_64 and upgrade to ZCS 8.0.0

I tried to rsync the full 7.2.1 /opt/zimbra across, I ran the RHEL 4 installer for 7.2.1 which doesn't work so I tried running the installation 7.2.1 for RHEL 6. That worked but the software wouldn't start.

I tried upgrading that 7.2.1 to 8.0.0 hoping the new release would install and resolve things only to receive this:

I have not been able to find a good resource for how to upgrade both the operating system and Zimbra... I am really bummed that support for RHEL4 is gone. The nature of our business requires mail 7x24 so I cannot have my mail services down for extended durations, I have to keep my outage windows as small as possible which is why I am trying to move to a new server. Doing an OS upgrade on the current server is not an option because the upgrade itself is time consuming and if it doesn't work, recovery is too time consuming as well.

Any suggestions would be helpful!

Installing Zimbra on Centos 6.3 vps

Hello,
I was trying to do a test install of zimbra on a vps machine and was running into the ldap initalization error (28160)

The internal ip for the vps is 10.1.3.4
the external is 173.199.***.***

I originally tried the split DNS with bind and could not get it to work. I then tried with dnsmasq, which is still installed and am receiving the same error.

Any help is appreciated.

I've installed fresh zca-8 Virtual Appliance on ESXi 5.0.
Everything runs fine but we have trouble with the OVM environment and we get erorros on boot and ssh login also throws errors or takes very long time. OVM is new stuff for us, but what I found out:

Login executes /opt/vmware/bin/ovfenv which returns: Unable to find the ovf environment.

On boot /etc/init.d/vaos returns: Waiting for network to come up (attempt 1 of 10)...

Networks Zimbra issue

$

Hi guys i've installed Zimbra 7.0 in a network 192.168.1.3 . All computers in that network (192.168.1.x) can access OK to the Zimbra web intercace.

We have other network 192.168.2.x, but computers in that network cannot acces to the Zimbra server.

Gateway exists, is working good for others servers, and ping to 192.168.1.3 is OK (from 192.168.2.x network), so I think is some configuration (httpd.conf? firewall ?? )

Where to search for that solution?

Thanks in advance

Need help with installation, willing to pay to just have someone do it.

Zimbra 8 on Ubuntu 12.04 Desktop. Virtual machine running on MS Hyper-V server, mixed environment with MS AD running. Domain controllers are running MS DNS. Running behind a natted firewall. Machine will need to be visible from the inside and outside.

Zimbra is mostly installed, got to nearly the end of installation and I got an error saying that it couldn't initialize LDAP. I think I have mostly DNS issues.

Willing to pay the right person to just get it working for me. Please let me know if you're interested.

Thank you all

Zimbra on 81, Apache 2 on 80/443 ProxyRedirect Question

Good day folks.

I am running Zimbra on port 81 (http mode only), and running Apache2 on port 80 and 443.

In the past, I ran zimbra on one host in http mode only, and apache2 on another host, on 443, and ProxyPass to the zimbra server. Yes, this has worked for me for over two years.

Today, I decided to get rid of the Apache2 host, and install it on the zimbra host. I put zimbra on port 81, and configured apache2 almost exacly as I had it with two hosts.

Everything works, except..., logging out.

I go to https://my.zimbra.net (do my thing, Briefcase, email, calendar, everything appears to work)

However, when I'm ready to log out, I click "Log out' for some reason, zimbra uses the http://my.zimbra.net/zimbra/?loginOp=logout, the port 80.

Then I get the standard: You are not authorized to access /zimbra on this server (Which is correct, I'm not serving anything to the outside on port 80)

I've issued this command:
zmprov ms my.zimbra.net zimbraMailPort 81
zmcontrol restart

My apache is redirecting (ProxyPass) port 443 -> 81 -> 443 to the browser.

But for the life of me, it's just the logging out that wants to talk to my.zimbra.net on port 80 !!

This is probably not a supported configuration, but thought I'd ask.

Trouble relaying email after migrating accounts from one ZCS server to another

$

I'm practicing (and will be doing in a production environment once all of the kinks are worked out) moving a domain's email from one ZCS server to its own ZCS server. Both servers run 7.1.3 on RHEL6 x86_64. Here is my procedure so far (which seems to work fine), minus the changes needed with DNS, etc.

1) Mark all accounts in the domain as closed.
2) Perform a full backup of the accounts using zmbackup.
3) When backup is complete, use NFS to mount /opt/zimbra/backup on the new server.
4) Perform a restore of all of the accounts
5) Change the mail transport each account as they're restored (/opt/zimbra/bin/zmprov ma $account zimbraMailTransport smtp:psi-mail01.twtc.marianinc.com:7025)
6) Set all accounts as active on new server
7) Recreate all distribution lists
8) Test sending email from user to user (within the same domain) on the new mail server
9) Test sending email from user to external user
10) If all is well, delete the accounts off of the old mail server

The problem I have is step 8. Below is a paste (with redacted user/domain information) of /var/log/maillog on the new mail server.

Moving from behind NAT Router to /29 network with Static IP's

$

I recently moved from a 32bit to 64bit RHEL 6.x server and Zimbra 7.x Network version - also 64bit. The whole migration went fine and worked well from behind my NAT router.

I decided to move out from behind it to our WAN router that has static addresses 74.xx.xx.94 to 74.xx.xx.98 available. I made the required changes at Network Solutions to remove my DNS machine from my records and keep the MX address the same 74.xx.xx.94 and moved my private net work router (NAT) to 74.xx.xx.95.

After making those changes and checking the rhel resolv, hosts, hostname files. I thought I was set? The server is plugged directly into the WAN router with eth0 set to 192.168.0.x and eth1 set to 74.xx.xx.94. dnsmaq is setup for simple caching internal dns.

Note: I have tested so far with rhel firewall and without.... no change in results.

Zimbra sees the MX fine and I am able to send mail but none returning when testing mail (send to work and sending back) failure. Something is keeping me from getting mail. ...btw my static IP's from ATT all have port 25 open. I have also opened one additional port for admin 7071. My Zimbra server should be allowing "both" http and https access from outside. It is not working.

I am still unable to receive mail. Scratching my head on this one..... Any help would be greatly appreciated to help debug.

Hi to all,

Well I have one situation that may be interesting to all.

Our current configuration of Zimbra mail server is like this:

1. CentOS 6.3 + Zimbra 7.x on VMware ESXi server (VMware cluster for HA)
2. Currently connected to internet via mikrotik router and ISP1. (not HA, but in case of problems / not working router, I change only router and upload new config on it, max 15 min downtime :) ).

Problem is that ISP don't have stable link, because they are changing from cable to optic, and normally we don't have internet for couple hours. And they do it during working hour (by their words it will took some time for that works to finish) !!! Because my firm is doing a lot of mail communication with their partners, it is not good idea to have down mail server.

For now optic is to much expensive for us (it is more than 250Euros for 10/10 link :S, and they dont offer asymmetric up/down speed, only symmetric, cable is about 60euros for 16/1 link,), and my idea is to use 2nd ISP as backup / maybe load balance link (it is possible to configure Mikrotik, but I don't know how Zimbra will handle that), who is ADSL with speed 16/1 (cca 60 euros is that additional line, in that case with 2 ISPs I have theoretically 32/2 for 120 Euros :)).

Bellow is shematic how I have think to do that:

For me only problem is how to set Zimbra and what to ask ISPs to configure (MX records and reverse DNS ?) to be able send / receive mails on another line (ISP2) in case that 1st line is out. Also my question is how will zimbra handle load balansing of WAN's ?

Thanks for help :)
